Robert Everett Mills

Robert Everett Mills has spent the past ten years as a legislative consultant/lobbyist, following a sixteen year career on professional staffs of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate.

Mr. Mills began his career in the U.S. Congress as a Legislative Assistant to the late Representative Gillis W. Long (D-Louisiana), from January, 1973 to January, 1974. In 1974, he accepted a position as Legislative Assistant on budget and appropriations issues with Senator William Proxmire (D-Wisconsin), former Chairman of the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee; former Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee; and former Ranking Member on the Senate Appropriations Committee in 1975, and assumed the position of Assistant Staff Director of the Subcommittee on VA, HUD and Independent Agencies, a position he held from 1975 to 1981. In January, 1981, Mr. Mills accepted a promotion on the Senate Appropriations Committee, taking over the role of Minority Democratic Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Treasury, Postal Service, and General Government under the Ranking Minority member, Senator Dennis DeConcini (D-Arizona). Finally, in 1987, Mr. Mills became the Majority (Democratic) Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Treasury, Postal Service, and General Government under the Chairmanship of Senator DeConcini.

Mr. Mills received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland at College Park in 1971, and a Masters Degree in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., received in 1979. In May, 1988, Mr. Mills received his Juris Doctor from the Georgetown University Law Center.
